Mirror Polished Aluminum Sheet Used for Lighting

Mirror polished aluminum sheet is the most widely applied type of aluminum mirror sheet. The lighting industry serves as a big consuming market. Generally speaking, aluminium mirror sheet can be divided into two types in accordance with surface treatment methods: Polished Aluminum Mirror Sheet and Mirror Finish Anodized Aluminum Sheet. Polished sheets have poorer performances in reflectivity and stability. Usually three series of alloys serve as raw materials of polished sheets: 1xxx, 3xxx and 5xxx. 1050, 1060, 1070 and 1100 sheets have the weakest hardness but excellent tensile strength. 3003, 5005 and 5057 are all known as corrosion resistant alloys, though 3003 can not compete in either corrosion resistance or hardness with the latter two.

Mirror polished aluminum sheet is used for lighting because of its mirror-like property. A mirror makes the light of a lamp stronger and distributed reasonably. It is actually a science learned by people in ancient Greece. 2200 years ago Archimedes beat a Roman army with mirrors. At that time a small Greek island he lived in was repeatedly attacked by Romans. One day, they came again in dozens of boats, but the island was almost empty without soldiers. Archimedes instructed the old, women and children to hold mirrors and reflect the sunshine onto a single boat which soon caught fire. After several boats were burned in this way, the boat team fled hurriedly. This historical story gave an excellent illustration of the force of reflectivity. While being used for lamps, aluminium mirror sheet has a similar function. Different from what Archimedes applied, the sheet turns into hopper-like covers that reflect light from lamps into all directions, making it disperse around a room. To extend the covers’ service life and corrosion resistance, polished sheets are usually further anodized and filmed. They can also be coated to match the design style of a specific lamp.
