Although 1060, 3003, 5052 and 5754 are better known as alloys for embossed aluminium products, 6000 series serve as important members as well, including 6061, 6063 and 6082. The 6xxx aluminum alloys mainly contains two alloying elements of magnesium and silicon, so they combine advantages of both 4000 and 5000 series.

The 6061 embossed aluminum sheet metal is a cold-processed aluminum forged product with medium strength, good corrosion resistance, satisfying weldability and excellent oxidation effect, widely used in various industrial structural parts requiring high strength and high antibacterial properties. Owing to good usability, excellent interface characteristics, easy coating and good processability, it’s also applied to low pressure weapons and aircraft joints. 6061 aluminum sheet can be anodized or painted as a decorative material. It contains a small amount of Cu, so both its strength and quenching sensitivity are higher than 6063. After quenching, wind quenching cannot be achieved, and re-solution treatment and quenching aging are required to obtain higher strength for it. Typical usages of 6061 aluminum include aircraft parts, camera parts, couplers, marine parts, electronic fittings, hinged heads, magnetic heads, brake pistons, hydraulic pistons, electrical parts, valves and valve parts , ships, trams, furniture, machinery parts etc.

As mentioned above, 6063 stucco embossed aluminum sheet metal has a lower strength than 6061, but it has equivalently excellent corrosion resistance and surface treatment properties. 6063 can be heat treated, performing high impact toughness, excellent thermoplasticity, extraordinary welding performance and good corrosion resistance. Without no tendency of stress corrosion cracking, 6000 is the only series that has no stress corrosion cracking phenomenon among heat-treated reinforced aluminum alloys. The surface of 6063 aluminum sheet is very smooth after processing, easy to be anodized and colored. 6063 embossed aluminum sheet metal is widely used in the construction of aluminum doors and windows, curtain wall frame etc.
