What Are Anodized Aluminum Sheet Colors?

February 17, 2025

Anodized aluminum sheets can be rendered in a wide range of colors. Anodized colors are usually more durable and fade-resistant than regular coatings, making them suitable for long periods of use outdoors or in harsh environments. Anodized aluminum sheet can be rendered in a variety of colors through the anodizing process. Common colors include, but are not limited to, blue, red, green, black, silver (clear), gold, orange, bronze (bronzed), grey, and more. These colors are permanently applied to aluminum surfaces through different dyes or electrolytic coloring methods to improve stability, durability, surface finish, and wear resistance.

Below are some common anodized aluminum sheet colors and their characteristics:

– Black: the surface is a matte black oxide film with deep and uniform color, good corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance and certain anti-scratch properties.

– Silver/silver-white: the surface has a bright silver-white oxide film, high gloss, not easy to be damaged. When the thickness of the oxide film of aluminum profiles is less than 10 microns, it will show silver white or light gray. In addition, the oxidized film without dyeing or special treatment also presents a uniform and detailed silver appearance.

– Golden: the surface is gold-colored oxide film, the color is golden and brilliant, with a certain degree of decorative. The thickness of gold-colored oxide film is thin, generally 1.5~5μm.

– Cyan: The surface is a cyan-colored oxide film, which can present a calm and low-profile effect, usually softer.

– Red: The surface is a red oxide film with a sharp and vibrant color. The red oxide film is formed on the basis of the gold oxide film after special treatment, and the thickness is generally between 2~5μm.

– Blue: the surface is an oxide film with an ocean-like freshness and light blue color, generally dyed by adding blue dyes, the color is bright and has the visual effect of youthful vitality.

– Purple: the surface presents a sense of mystery and romance, obtained by adding purple dye.

– Brown: with good cathodic stripping resistance, the deposition thickness is generally 3~25μm, darker color and better quality.

– Gray: a low-key and steady color, often used in modern minimalist style buildings.

– Bronze: presenting a retro and elegant effect, suitable for some places with historical and cultural atmosphere.

– Green: presenting a natural and fresh feeling, green anodized aluminum plate is more common in some gardening and architectural applications.

The application of anodized aluminum sheet is very wide, suitable for many industries and fields, such as:

– Architectural decoration: used for building facades, curtain walls, indoor wall tops, etc., as it has good weather resistance and aesthetic properties.

– Furniture and home appliances: as furniture panels, electric appliance panels, etc., utilizing its metallic texture and easy to clean characteristics.

– Industrial products: such as machinery parts, airplane and automobile parts, precision instruments, etc., due to its excellent corrosion and wear resistance.

– Electronic products: due to its high-quality look and feel, it is commonly used in the housings or components of high-end electronic products.

These anodized aluminum sheet colors are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also provide different characteristics and properties to the surface of aluminum sheets, such as enhanced hardness, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and durability. Meanwhile, different colors of anodized aluminum sheets are also suitable for different styles of architecture and decorative places.
