Aluminum coil 8079 for beverage cans is 0.015 mm to 0.5mm thick and 100mm to 1600mm wide. It contains 0.05-3% Si, 0.7-1.3% Fe, 0.05% Cu, 0.10% Zn and 0.15% other metals except for aluminium. Tempers for 8079 include O, H14, H16, H12, H18, H22, H24, H26 and H28. In addition to beverage cans, 8079 aluminium foil coil is also applied to packaging for food, medicine, cosmetics and batteries.
As an aluminum coil for beverage cans, 8079 boasts good strength, excellent elongation and outstanding tensile strength. 8079 is a wrought aluminium alloy whose structural organization and shape change under processes of punching, bending, rolling and extruding. Wrought alloys are obtained by melting aluminium ingot and have the liquid subjected to plastic deformation processing of the metal to make aluminum alloys in various forms. There are heat treatable wrought alloys (including hard aluminum alloys, super hard aluminum alloys, and forged aluminum alloys) and non heat-treatable aluminum alloys (mainly anti-rust ones). Wrought aluminium alloys are widely used in various industrial sectors such as aviation, automobile, shipbuilding, construction, chemical industry and machinery. One common feature of wrought alloys is excellent integrated mechanical property. Some feature super hardness, some good corrosion resistance and others (like 8079) prominent elongation.
Alloy 8079 offers the best properties for many applications with H14, H18 and other tempers and thicknesses between 10 and 200 microns. 8079 aluminum coil for beverage cans is a flexible and unique metal with soft temper and attractive surface. It is an ideal product for applications requiring higher tensile strength materials which are not compromised during the drug packaging processes. The combination of the 8079 alloy and H18 temper provides optimal performance in pharmaceutical foil. Alloy 8079 foil coil is also widely used in the food packaging industry, beer mark, and household foil, bottle cap, etc.
